Organization
In August, 2008, all property and assets of the former Joint Powers Authority were transferred to the Calhoun County Commission. Since December, 2008, the McClellan Development Authority (MDA) Board has been serving in an advisory capacity for the Commission on all matters pertaining to the development of McClellan. On April 30, 2009, Governor Bob Riley signed into law Act # 2009-337 authorizing,"... the incorporation of development authorities for the purpose of developing real and personal property of closed military installations in Alabama..." . Both the Anniston City Council and Calhoun County Commission have since passed resolutions supporting the incorporation of the MDA. Once incorporated, all assets, propoerty, duties, and resposibilties for the development of McClellan will transfer to the MDA.
The MDA Advisory Board consists of five members appointed by Calhoun County, five members appointed by the City of Anniston and one member appointed by the Governor of Alabama. Board meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 10:00 AM in the MDA board room.
